Work has been really busy lately and I haven’t had much time to work out, clean, or be by myself. Despite that, I’ve admittedly been going to lots of shows & spending late nights out with my friends to blow off steam.
I was able to catch Wisp at the El Rey Theatre last Wednesday. She put on such an amazing show! It was refreshing to see a young woman from the Bay Area on that stage, playing music that I wish I’d written.
Being at that show and seeing so many inspired young fans reminded me of the first time I listened to beabadoobee and BENEE in college. I found a lot of artistic and personal inspiration from their music even prior to blowing up on TikTok. Their songs just ticked my brain the right way, and it was so inspiring to see young women making shit happen.
It’s magical whenever I listen to a new artist and know that they’re destined to become massive. To celebrate this feeling, I spent a couple of hours this week diving into some awesome female voices.
This week’s playlist contains artists that I’ve loved for years to smaller bands and artists that popped up on Spotify. My algorithm kind of popped off and there’s some gems in here. Hope you enjoy!

SLICE OF THE WEEK
Medium thin crust pizza with pepperoni, onion, olives, and mushrooms – Domino’s
Overall rating: 9/10
This is the quintessential Fran pizza. It’s got everything I love, a crunchy thin crust, and also doesn’t leave me feeling gross after eating the whole thing in 10 minutes (oops). It’s consistent. It’s quick. It’s easy. It’s cheap. It’s everything to me.
Tastes best with a side of the garlic butter dipping sauce. I knocked off a point because it’s not “authentic” pizza and I feel like real pizza lovers would actually kill me if I gave Domino’s a 10.
It was soooooooooo good.
